michele’s story
I
began to suffer from acne at around the age of 12; at one
point it was so bad that I had to have two months off school
as I refused to attend. I was prescribed all sorts of lotions
and antibiotics, none of which seemed to work. This continued
well into my 20s by which time I had been given various types
of contraceptive pills which I was told would help balance
my hormones — some of these did work for a while but
there were side effects; weight gain, mood swings etc, so
I was never entirely happy.
At 25, I began to use Dermalogica products, which seemed
to be the solution to all my acne problems, my face was the
clearest it had been for years; alas this did not continue
and a few months later the spots returned with a vengeance
and I had to visit the doctor again to be prescribed yet more
antibiotics and lotions. At this stage in my life and having
suffered with acne for over 12 years it really did begin to
get me down to an extent where my social life was beginning
to suffer as I wouldn't go out. I seemed to be endlessly looking
at my reflection and picking at the existing spots thinking
this would help; obviously it did not.
Thinking there was nothing more I could do, I decided that
as a last ditch attempt I should have a look on the Internet,
and came across the Acne-advice website. I had a good read
through all of the sections and thought what did I have to
lose? I took a trip to a supermarket that night and loaded
my trolley with various fruits, nuts and tea tree products.
If I’m honest, I have never been particularly interested
in eating fruit and veg as being a single woman I often go
for convenient microwave meals.
However, after only a week of cutting these types of meals
out and switching to eating grapes and apples during the day
followed by salads or veg for an evening meal, and snacking
on Brazil nuts and almonds, I have seen a vast improvement
to my skin. I currently do not have one spot on my face —
a very, very rare occurrence and only have a few red marks
left by previous spots, which seem to be fading every day.
I feel more energetic than I’ve been in a long time
and obviously so much happier as I can look in the mirror
and be pleased with the reflection. I recommend this course
of action for anyone who has ever
suffered with acne.
