produced by The
Fresh Network

Looking for clearer skin? To regain that glow or even
to clear up acne? Look no further than www.acne-advice.com,
the brainchild of ex-acne sufferer, talented web designer
and author of Clear
Skin, Karen Jessett.
Acne-advice.com is a great looking site, very easy to
navigate and easy to read with lots of useful information,
innovative features and an online shop. There's lots to keep
you reading, all in easily accessible bite-sized chunks, giving
you enough to get going with, while offering lots of resources
for further exploration. Highlights of this site are the recipes,
2 and 7 day detox plans (which even include complete shopping
lists), and the very useful vitamin and mineral charts which
are also featured in Karen's book.

how did you get into raw foods?
About six years ago, I realised my depression and skin problems
weren't going away in a hurry and started reading health books.
These often pointed at diet for both reducing and improving
health, depending on what you eat. I was relatively healthy,
compared to the 'average' person, but immediately felt and
saw the benefits of cutting down on meat, bread and dairy
products. Like many, this took me on a journey via pescatarianism,
vegetarianism and veganism to high raw. I have found eating
this way is right for me. My skin looks better than ever and
I feel great!

why did you launch a site?
About 2 years ago, while still experimenting to find which
foods were triggers for my skin problems, I designed a clear
skin detox for myself. Friends and family were willing volunteers
and even those without skin problems reported feeling fantastic
too. I was so pleased with the results; I set up www.acne-advice.com
to help others find the route to clear skin through diet,
exercise, relaxation and treatments. I wanted to specialise
in acne, because I understand how debilitating the condition
can be. The site quickly started getting an average of 1000
visitors a day, and I received hundreds of emails from people
wanting to know more. So I wrote Clear
Skin.
The first edition of Clear
Skin sold so well; I've recently published the second
edition. This version contains updated content, over 70 new
(more raw) and updated recipes, as well as extra information
on the acid/alkaline balance, which covers enzymes, digestive
leukocytosis and a raw food diet. Although it's aimed at people
with acne, anyone wishing to look and feel their best can
benefit from the delicious, healthy recipes.
Clear Skin
is the main product on www.acne-advice.com,
and we also sell other
health/recipe books, natural skin
care products and InnerTalk
CDs. My aim for the future of www.acne-advice.com
is to continue to increase the number of visitors and get
the information 'out there'. I feel strongly that people should
see there is an alternative to taking pills and treatments
that often have detrimental side effects. And the really great
thing about this alternative is that it is an overall healthy
lifestyle that has a positive affect on much more than just
skin.

what success stories have you heard about from those who
have visited your site?
I receive wonderful emails from a wide range of people whose
skin has cleared up after following the advice on the site.
It's great to hear testimonials from both adults and teenagers
whose skin has improved. One fantastic story was from a woman
who wrote to me thanking me because her fourteen year old
daughter's acne had improved so much she was able to go out
with friends again. This particularly touched me because her
daughter's story reminded me of what life was like for me
at that age, and I was so glad to have been able to help stop
the embarrassment acne causes. It just goes to show that a
high raw diet really does work!

where do you think raw foods are going?
The raw food lifestyle is becoming more mainstream, which
I believe is a good thing. It's important that people who
follow a raw lifestyle aren't seen as 'extreme', and more
of this important health-giving information becomes accessible
to people via groups such as The
Fresh Network.
